1974-75
In the 1970's and 80's, I spent a lot of time in Baja California, mostly in Baja California Norte, the northern half of Baja that was a long drive from where I lived. In those days, Baja was still very wild and dangerous. Today, it's just dangerous.
There were a number of good surf spots north of Ensenada that were a two or three hour drive. Below is an overview of K55, a popular surf spot in 1974.

Another shot of K55 with my trusty longbed Chevy van that usually was loaded with a dirt bike and surfboards.

Just outside of Ensenada is the small hamlet of San Miguel. There is a campground there and a good surf spot. I was there in 1975 with my friends Mike Tizzano and Jack Murphy, who were visiting from Ohio. The surf was big and barreling. I got the best backside tube ride of my life to that point and also got pitched onto the rocks and dislocated my finger.
