Backside Rail Grab

I believe this photo was taken at Warm Water Jetty in Carlsbad in 1979 or 1980. Black and white film, which was used for testing water cameras because of its lower cost, did not have a date like Kodachrome slides. At this time, being in the water with a professional looking camera rig immediately attracted a crowd of surfers who thought their chance at the next Surfer Magazine cover had arrived.
