Shaggy Mane mushrooms in the Cascade Mountains of Washington. They grow at a specific time, under certain conditions and elevation.
I would collect them on my way back home from mountain bike riding. They are fairly delicate and must be handled with care. Cleaned up, lightly cooked in olive oil and garlic, they were the perfect compliment to fresh grilled salmon from the Columbia River.
